George PATRICK was born at Ecclesall, Sheffield in 1891. The 1901 census shows him living at 90 Wood View Road, Owlerton, Sheffield with his parents Edward and Charlotte and also his brother Arthur.

The 1911 census shows the family living at 112 Sackville Road, Crookes, Sheffield, George employed as a drapers clerk.

On the 11th September 1914 George enlists into the Army at Sheffield and enters the ranks of the 12th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, the Sheffield Pals. He was aged 23 years and a book keeper.

On the 10th August 1915 George married Lucy Armitage at St Thomas’ Church, Crookes, Sheffield and they took up residence together at 137 Hammerton Road, Langsett, Sheffield.

The battalion embarked SS NESTOR at Devonport 20th December 1915 arriving and disembarking at Alexandria, Egypt on 1st January 1916. The Battalion embarked the HMT Briton on 10th March 1916 and the following morning set sail for France.

On the 16th March 1916 the battalion entrained at Marseilles heading for the North Western theatre of the war in France.

On the 13th February 1918 he transferred to the 13th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, Barnsley Pals.

8th February 1919 transferred to the reserves.

George passed away in Sheffield in December 1964.
