Emmett LODGE was born circa 1888 at Hoyland Common near Barnsley, Yorkshire. The census trail shows him living in 1891 at 15 Queen Street, Hoyland Nether, 1901 at 13 Beaumont Street, Hoyland Nether and in 1911 at 37 Beaumont Street, Hoyland Common with his parents Arthur and Annie and his 4 brothers and 1 sister.

In 1911 Emmett marries Alberta GREEN at Tankersley near Barnsley. They have 2 children, Ronald born 1912 and Ralph born 1915.

On 27.11.1916 at the age of 23 Emmett enlists at Pontefract where his occupation is recorded as Greengrocer.

He is placed with the 3rd reserve battalion until he enters the Western Front on 19th February 1917 where on 18th March 1917 he is attached to the 6th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment.

Emmett survived the war to enter the reserves on 22nd February 1919. He passed away in 1970.
